University of Malaga and the Malaga City Council sign a new agreement
The Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, and the Rector of the University of Malaga (UMA), José Ángel Narváez, renewed the collaboration between both institutions with the signing of the new General Protocol for the development of joint activities.
The public interest drove the realization of the aforementioned protocol because the resulting activities will produce mutual benefit within their respective objectives with special reference to those related to research, development, innovation, dissemination and cooperation of art and culture, as well as training. The General Protocol signed Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021 will have a duration of 4 years and includes a joint commission, made up of representatives of each institutions in order to ensure compliance with the protocol commitments, formulate concrete action proposals, propose lines of collaboration in research projects or programs, art and culture, among other functions.
Areas of Activity
- Execution of joint research, development and innovation, art and culture and training projects and programs, to be carried out in the Departments, University Institutes and Research Centers of the University of Malaga, or other entities and structures and in the facilities of the Malaga City Council.
- Provision of technical services and scientific, cultural or art advice on issues related to the activities of both entities
- Cooperation in training programs for research and technical personnel and employees, student internships (Professional internship program for students in companies) and graduate internships (Professional Experience Program for Employment), as well as the incorporation of researchers to Business.
- Organization of common activities related to the social promotion of research, technological development, innovation and new technologies, art and culture.
- Joint organization of courses, seminars, conferences and scientific-technical, cultural and training conferences.
- Exchange of information and documentation on the activities and matters developed by both institutions, always respecting the interests of third parties and acting in accordance with the provisions established in current legislation.
- Exchange of personnel for a limited time, when the nature of the work requires it.
- Common use of the equipment and the technical and instrumental means of both parties, for the development of the activities that require it in those projects that are of mutual interest and, if necessary to carry out these activities, acquisition of equipment and means , in accordance with the regime established in the specific agreements or research contracts to which the protocol gives rise.
In 2016, the first collaboration agreement was signed between the Malaga City Council and the University of Malaga, for the joint development of academic, scientific and cultural activities. This general agreement has been implemented through specific subsequent agreements that have been signed, depending on the subjects and the collaboration modalities.
