Parma's first 'Welcome Night' held on September 18 was a huge success! The event, which was jointly organized by the University of Parma and the Municipality of Parma, was a special welcome party for students studying in the city. Many people filled the city's Piazza Ghiaia, with both old and new students celebrating the start of the academic year together.

The event, which attracted ‘freshers’ as well as current students and the wider community, featured live bands, DJ sets, and special offers in local venues. The ParmaUniverCity Info Point was open throughout the evening, providing guidance and information on university services, city resources, and opportunities for young people.

Presented in a joint press conference by the Rector, the Mayor, and other representatives, the initiative underscores the strong and long-standing collaboration between the University and the Municipality, a central element of the Parma Città Universitaria project. Thanks to this partnership, Parma has become an increasingly attractive destination for students, especially non-residents, ranking third in Italy for its ability to draw young people from other regions.

Welcome Night is therefore much more than a party: it is a symbolic embrace from both the University and the city, designed to create a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere while reinforcing the idea of students as a vital resource for the community. The initiative also supports Parma’s path towards becoming European Youth Capital 2027, highlighting the city’s commitment to listening to, supporting, and valuing the role of the younger generations.
